UNIT 5 NATURAL SCIENCE: ENERGY
WHAT IS ENERGY?
Energy is the ability to do work or cause changes. It
is present everywhere and in everything.
Energy causes the changes we see around us. For
example, energy makes a ball at rest move when it is kicked.
Energy can exist in many forms. Chemical energy, light
energy, nuclear energy, mechanical energy, thermal energy and electrical energy
are different forms of energy. The energy we use on a daily basis is obtained
from different energy sources.

UNIT 5 SOCIAL SCIENCE: THE MIDDLE AGES: THE VISIGOTH KINGDOM & AL-ANDALUS
THE MIDDLE AGES
The Middle Ages is the period marked by fall of the Roman Empire, in 476, up to the discovery of America in 1492.
1. THE VISIGOTH KINGDOM

UNIT 4 NATURAL SCIENCE: RELATIONSHIPS IN ECOSYSTEMS
WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM? DO YOU REMEMBER IT?
An ecosystem is made up of living things and the physical environment, where they live. Living things are affected by different factors in the environment, for example, temperature and light. Ecosystems can be terrestrial, like forests and deserts, or aquatic, like seas and rivers.

UNIT 3 NATURAL SCIENCE: ECOSYSTEMS
WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM?
An ecosystem consists of all the organisms living in one place, as well as the physical environment they live in. Organisms in an ecosystem interrelate with each other. For example, a dessert is an ecosystem that consists of all the living things that live there (camels, lizards, snakes, cactuses,...), the physical environment (sand, rocks and air), and the interrelationships among the living things and the environment.
Ecosystems come in all shapes and sizes. They can be as small as a terrarium in your room or as big as an ocean.
ECOSYSTEM = PHYSICAL ENVIROMENT + LIVING THINGS (fauna and flora)

UNIT 2 NATURAL SCIENCE: KINGDOMS OF LIVING THINGS
Classifying living things
Living things are classified into groups, called kingdoms. Living things from the same kingdom share similar characteristics. There are 5 kingdoms:
- Animal kingdom.
- Plant kingdom.
- Fungi kingdom.
- Protista kingdom.
- Monera kingdom.

- Nutrition: living things obtain nutrients and energy from food.
- Sensitivity: living things react to what the perceive around them.
- Reproduction: living things produce new individuals that are similar to themselves.
