UNIT 5 NATURAL SCIENCE: ENERGY
WHAT IS ENERGY?
Energy is the ability to do work or cause changes. It
is present everywhere and in everything.
Energy causes the changes we see around us. For
example, energy makes a ball at rest move when it is kicked.
Energy can exist in many forms. Chemical energy, light
energy, nuclear energy, mechanical energy, thermal energy and electrical energy
are different forms of energy. The energy we use on a daily basis is obtained
from different energy sources.

THE MIDDLE AGES
The Middle Ages is the period marked by fall of the Roman Empire, in 476, up to the discovery of America in 1492.
1. THE VISIGOTH KINGDOM
After the 3rd century, the Roman Empire started to lose its territories and power. It was invaded by Germanic tribes who came from the north and east of Europe. In 476, the last Roman Emperor, Rómulo Augusto, was defeated and the Empire was divided into small independent kingdoms.
The fall of the Roman Empire marks the beginning of the Middle Ages.

WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM? DO YOU REMEMBER IT?
An ecosystem is made up of living things and the physical environment, where they live. Living things are affected by different factors in the environment, for example, temperature and light. Ecosystems can be terrestrial, like forests and deserts, or aquatic, like seas and rivers.
